Coach charged with assaulting 2 young boys

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities say a part-time north Philadelphia football coach has been charged with sexual assault of two young boys.

Prosecutors said 24-year-old Leon Watson was arrested Sunday and faces charges including rape, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, false imprisonment, unlawful restraint, endangering the welfare of children.

They allege that Watson developed a relationship with an 8-year-old and a 9-year-old and eventually sexually assaulted both of them.

Prosecutors said Watson was a part-time coach for the Rhawnhurst Raiders football team from August until October and also formed his own neighborhood team called the “Little Vicks.” The District Attorney’s office fears there may be more victims.

Watson remains in custody on $500,000 bail pending a Nov. 25 hearing.
