More than 700 illuminated pumpkins lined the gardens for the annual Mill Creek MetroPark Pumpkin Walk at Twilight on Oct. 20 at Fellows Riverside Gardens.

The pumpkins came in all shapes: carved, sculpted and painted. The public was invited to help create the pumpkin designs on Oct. 17-19 in preparation for the event.

Jeanie Carchedi carved pumpkins with her family before the event.

“It’s a great service for both us and them because they get all of their pumpkins finished,” said Carchedi.

Dennis Penner, garden supervisor at Fellows Riverside Gardens, said the pumpkins are all unique.

“We always get a variety, some basic and some really elaborate pumpkins,” said Penner.

The event is popular, with more than 6,000 people attending.

“It’s the most well-attended event we have,” said Penner.

Keith Kaiser, horticulture director, said the event is free to public.

“It’s nice to give back,” said Kaiser.

Pumpkin Walk at Twilight is sponsored by Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens.
