Warren JFK's Abdul-Aal reaches state tennis semifinals

Warren JFK senior Jad Abdul-Aal won twice on Friday at the Division II state tennis tournament to reach today's semifinals.

Abdul-Aal defeated Ryan Bibo of Columbus Watterson, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 6-4 in a first-round match. He then defeated Matt Brumbaugh of West Milton Milton-Union, 7-5, 6-2.

Abdul-Aal will meet Patrick Wildman of Cincinnati Country Day in a semifinal today. Asher Hirsch of Cincinnati Country Day will meet John Larkin of Cincinnati Seven Hills in the other semifinal.

Poland's Garrett Gardner and Lakeview's Aaron Paczak both lost their first-round matches Friday and were eliminated.

Larkin defeated Gardner, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. Hirsch defeated Paczak, 6-3, 6-1.

Gardner and Paczak are both juniors.
