Teen brother questioned in death of 2 Utah boys
WEST POINT, Utah (AP) — An older brother was being questioned today in the deaths of two Utah boys found by their mother when she returned home, police said.
Authorities said they were questioning the 15-year-old boy in the deaths of his 4-year-old and 10-year-old brothers. Their bodies were found Wednesday night at their home in West Point, about 30 miles north of Salt Lake City.
Sgt. Susan Poulsen said the boys died from traumatic injuries.
Police said the boys had been left with their older brother while their mother took her other children to a dance recital. When she returned home, she found the 4-year-old boy dead. The 10-year-old’s body was found by police officers who responded to the home.
Deputies put out the teenager’s name and picture as they searched for him Wednesday night. The Associated Press is withholding the name because of the boy’s age.
Police found him shortly before midnight, Poulsen said. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Poulsen declined to comment on his mental status.
The boys’ father is active duty military and has been deployed in another state for some time, she said. He and the mother were distraught, Poulsen said.
