Masters competition winners concert set

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown Music Teachers’ Association’s annual masters competition was May 11 in Bliss Recital Hall, on the campus of Youngstown State University.

Two judges heard and rated the performances of local piano students in five divisions.

Winning students received $50 and will perform in a special recital at 4 p.m. Sunday in Bliss Recital Hall.

Dr. Alice Wang, a YSU faculty member, serves as the competition chairwoman.

Winning students in each of their categories follow:

• K-3 Division: Joshua Greenbaum, son of Arthur and Toni Greenbaum, student of Diane Debiec’s; Christopher Smallwood, son of Bob and Jennifer Smallwood, student of Debiec’s; Gabriella Smallwood, daughter of Mark and Nicole Smallwood and student of Fanny DiDomenico’s.

• 4-6 Division: Jessica Lee, daughter of Tac and Ling Lee, student of DiDomenico’s; Catherine Sicafuse, daughter of Tim and Jo Ann Sicafuse, student of DeBiec’s; Rithika Vangal, daughter of Archana and Pandu Vangal, student of Debiec’s.

• 7-9 Division: Nektarios Kasamias, son of Athanasios and Eleni Kasamias, student of Sean Baran’s; Max Lee, son of Tac and Ling Lee, student of DiDomenico’s.

• 10-12 Division: Tommy Kuhns, son of John and Gretchen Kuhns, student of DiDomenico’s; David Shon, son of Inwha and Eunhee Shon, student of DiDomenico’s; Giuliana Vota, daughter of Giuseppe Vota and Vidosava Ilic, student of Diane Yazvac’s.

• Concerto Division (restricted to high school seniors): Sarah Shon, daughter of Inwha and Eunhee Shon, student of DiDomenico’s.
