A Fifth Avenue man was arrested on three counts of domestic violence about 9:45 p.m. Monday after police say he elbowed his double-amputee son and threw the child’s mother to the floor.

Police were called to an apartment at 4003 Monticello Drive for a domestic dispute. When they arrived, a woman told them she was arguing with 37-year-old Rushad Chambers, who is the father of her child. Reports said the woman told them Chambers grabbed her son by the arm, elbowed him in the chest and then threw her to the ground. Police who arrived found out he also threw a pot full of food into the parking lot before running away.

Police found him on Logan Way near the Interstate 80 overpass, reports said. Reports said the boy is 11 and has two prosthetic legs.

He had a bruise on his arm, according to firefighters who examined him, reports said.

Chambers was taken to the Trumbull County jail on three misdemeanor counts of domestic violence pending his arraignment in Girard Municipal Court.
