A Youngstown man faces a felonious-assault charge after Liberty police said he shot a Struthers man three times, including once in the neck.
Richard James Armstrong, 20, of Price Road, was arraigned in Girard Municipal Court on Monday after his arrest Friday at his home by members of the U.S. Marshals Northeast Ohio Violent Fugitives Task Force.
Armstrong is accused of shooting Quentin Lamont Boone, 18, of Struthers, outside a club in the 3200 block of Belmont Avenue, on Feb. 24.
Police Chief Richard Tisone said Boone survived the shooting and still is recovering from his injuries.
Capt. Toby Meloro said Boone was shot twice in the buttocks and once in the back of the neck. Meloro said several patrons were interviewed at the club, but police did not receive any helpful information.
He said they collected two different types of shell casings from the scene, however.
Tisone said Boone identified Armstrong as the shooter before a warrant was issued for Armstrong’s arrest.
Armstrong did not enter a plea at his initial hearing, but he did post 10 percent of his $50,000 bond. He is under house arrest. Armstrong’s preliminary hearing is next Wednesday in municipal court.
The second-degree felony carries a maximum of eight years in jail and a $15,000 fine.
