AUCTIONS

St. Joseph the Provider School in Youngstown will sponsor its annual basket auction and buffet dinner April 5 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Social Hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel. The dinner consists of pasta and meatballs, chicken, sausage and peppers, salad, vegetable, potato, soft drinks, coffee and tea. There will be a cash bar, prizes and gift baskets. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and buffet begins at 7:30. Drawing will be at 9. Tickets are $20 each and include the dinner and 25 tickets, and are available at the school office, 330-259-0353, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, OH 44510, or at the door. Tables of 8 will cost $160 and reservations for 8 deadline is April 1.

BOOK SALES

Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive (off Market Street), Boardman, is preparing for the 57th annual used book sale from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. April 24, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 25 and 26.

CARD, BINGO PARTIES

Girard Eagles 2172 Ladies Auxiliary will have a spring card and bingo party at 2 p.m. April 7 at the Eagles Hall, 26 W. Wilson Ave. Doors will open at noon, and a light lunch will be served until 1:30 p.m.

Holy Apostles Parish, St. Stephen of Hungary Church, 954 Wilson Ave., Youngstown. The Altar & Rosary Society is sponsoring a spring fling bingo and card party at 2 p.m. April 21 in the church social hall. Donation is $5 and includes lunch and door prizes. St. Jude Parish, 180 Seventh St., Columbiana, will feature Super Bingo Sunday April 7. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. for lunch. Games begin at 2 p.m. A donation of $25 will get free daubers, coffee and pop all day, cards for games and chance to win $3,400 in cash prizes. Specials will be sold separately. There will be a lunch counter and bake sale.

St. Paul’s Altar Guild will have its annual spring fling at 2 p.m. April 7 at St. Paul the Apostle Church Hall, 10143 Main St., New Middletown. Admission is $5. There will be bingo, cards, door prizes, raffles and refreshments.

Trumbull County Federated Democratic Women’s Club annual card party will be from 2 to 5 p.m. April 21 at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic NE, Warren. Cost is $7. FESTIVALS/FAIRS

Leetonia Artisans Festival Committee will begin registering exhibitors for the 28th annual Artisans festival set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 22 at Wick Park. Registration forms will be available April 1 at www.leetonia.org. Contracts will be available for $40 for a 15x15-foot space for exhibitors and $50 per space for food vendors with a state approved food license. FUNDRAISERS

Diversified Family Services is sponsoring a reverse-raffle spring fundraising event at 6 p.m. April 10 at The Corinthian Banquet Room, downtown Sharon. McDonald Fire Social Organization is sponsoring “A Night Under The Stars” formal dinner dance April 27 at the Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St., Girard. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets include dinner, drinks, and an evening of music by DJ Judd. There also will be raffles. All proceeds go toward purchasing equipment for the McDonald Fire Department. Special Olympics Fundraiser will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 6 at Bev Road MASCO Workshop, 825 Bev Road, Boardman. Over 800 items will be available for purchase at the Shop Til You Drop sale benefitting the Mahoning County DD Special Olympics. The event also will include 100 gift baskets and a gift-card raffle valued at $500 of gift cards to local restaurants, bakeries, retail stores, golf items, salons and more. St. Patrick Church Youngstown/St. Vincent de Paul is sponsoring a Ladies Night Out. NIGHTS AT RACES

Legacy Dog Rescue & For the Dogs Rescue Night at the Races will take place April 12 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1024 Vienna Ave. (state Route 46), Niles. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the first race at 7. Admission is $5. If you pre-buy your ticket you will receive 5 free basket auction tickets. United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley is partnering with AFL-CIO Community Services for night at the races April 6 at Operating Engineers Hall Local 66, 291 McClurg Road, Boardman, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Post time will be 7:30.

SALES

Girard Junior Women annual trunk sale will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11 at a Girard City Lot, 100 N. Market St. (across from the city building), Girard. The event will take place rain or shine. Mahoning County Junior Fair Board is sponsoring a trunk sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 1 at the Canfield Fairgrounds Junior Fair Area at the 4-H end of the fair. Poland United Methodist Church Women, 1940 Boardman Poland Road (Route 224), are sponsoring books, bags, bling and brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27. There will be books for all ages, tote bags, handbags, and clutches, necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings and more. There also will be a brunch. Proceeds will benefit missions.

Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau is sponsoring Springtime in Columbiana with a French Market that will take place in the parking lot of Grace Church on Main Street rain or shine. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 and 4. There will be a variety of vendors. Booth spaces are limited and a minimum donation of $20 is requested. UnderCover Angels, Cheryl A. Clay Memorial Relay for Life Team, are sponsoring a bake sale at Boardman Walmart on Saturday. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life. Donations can be dropped off that morning.

SPECIAL EVENTS

New Bethel Baptist Church Hospitality Ministry is sponsoring a Spring Hat Extravaganza luncheon at noon April 27 at McMenamy’s Banquet Center, 325 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles. West Side Cats is preparing for its second annual motorcycle poker run July 31 at Austintown Park. Vendors who sell motor- cycle-related items, pet-related items, crafts, art, trash and treasure, etc., are needed. Space rental is $15. Donations are being sought for new items such as gift cards for gift baskets that will be raffled at the event. Bands will perform and food will be available. TRIPS

Civil War Round Table is conducting a Gettysburg National Military Park Battlefield tour April 26 through 28. Rangers will guide the tour through the wheat field, peach orchard, Devil’s Den and Culp’s Hill. Cost is $10 for the services of the rangers and to buy a wreath to place at the monument of the Sixth Ohio Cavalry. Those interested need to find your own transportation to Gettysburg and reserve and pay for your hotel accommodations and food. Group accommodations are available at Days Inn, 865 York Road, U.S. Route 30, Gettysburg; room rates will be $69 plus 11 percent tax. Each room includes two queen beds. Reservations must be made before March 26 to get the special group rate. Girard Knights of Columbus is sponsoring a bus trip to the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, Pa., on April 7. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. from Girard City Building, 100 W. Main St. and will load to leave the casino at 4:45 p.m. The cost of the trip is $30 per person. Participants will receive $20 in machine tokens from the Casino. Jewish Community Center is hosting a bus trip to Cleveland to see the musical “Guys and Dolls” on June 30. Bus will leave at 2 p.m. and return at 10 p.m. Members pay $70 and nonmembers, $80. Mineral Ridge Alumni Association Banquet Committee is sponsoring a bus trip to Rivers Casino on April 11. Proceeds will help defray the cost of the June 22 alumni banquet, which will be at the Fifth Season Banquet Center in Mineral Ridge because of high school construction. Cost per person for the trip is $30 with bonuses of $15 for slots and $5 for food. Parking for the day and pickup will be at First Presbyterian Church, 3654 state Route 46, Mineral Ridge.
