The Hubbard High School All Sports Hall of Fame will add nine new members at its annual banquet on April 20 at Saint Patrick’s Church Hall.

Tickets are available by calling 330-534-7700. No tickets will be sold at the door.

The inductees includes Richard Buchenic, football, class of 1962; Anthony “Bummy’ Choppa, football, 1945; Bert Gallagher, basketball coach; Matt Karlovic, football, 1998; Brenda McNicol Norwood, basketball, 1983; Katy Jo Mroski Dalton, volleyball, 2003; Jamie Palumbo, baseball, 1992; Dennis Smith, soccer coach; and Richard Tate, baseball, 1960.

Kent State’s season ends in CIT, 73-59

BALTIMORE, Md.

Kent State’s men’s basketball season came to an end on Sunday in a 73-59 loss at Loyola Maryland during round two of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.

Poor shooting spoiled the Golden Flashes’ hopes of advancing to a third-round game at East Carolina on Tuesday night.

Kent State connected on just 27.6 percent of its attempts from the field (16-for-58) and only 16.7 percent of its three-point tries (3-for-18).

Mercer Raceway Park

Mercer Raceway Park will have the Chiller Thriller on March 30 at 4 p.m.

An autograph session will take place at 6, with racing at 7.

The 2013 edition will feature the ULMS Late Models, the FASTRAK Late Models, the UEMS Modifieds and Mercer’s Open Stocks.

There will be a rain date for this even. The same program will be run April 6, if need be.

Otherwise, the April 6 program will be the first Saturday Night Live! event featuring Mercer’s six weekly racing divisions.

Robbie Keane out of Ireland’s qualifier

DUBLIN

Ireland captain Robbie Keane will miss his team’s World Cup soccer qualifier against Austria because of a calf injury.

The Los Angeles Galaxy forward had been set to make his 124th international appearance Tuesday.

Keane, Ireland’s career leader with 54 goals, was hurt during Friday’s 0-0 draw at Sweden and had a scan Sunday. He was replaced by Wolverhampton forward Kevin Doyle. Ireland is fourth (2-1-1) in Europe Group C, six points behind Germany (4-0-1), one back of Sweden (2-0-2) and trailing Austria (2-1-1) on goal difference.

British cyclist Froome captures Criterium

COL DE L’OSPEDALE, France

Tour de France runner-up Chris Froome of Britain won the Criterium International on Sunday in the third and final stage.

Froome broke away 3.4 miles from the end of the 110-mile stage to beat Team Sky teammate Richie Porte by 27 seconds and overtake the Australian in the overall standings.

Froome had started the day two seconds behind Porte, who won the individual time trial Saturday.

Canadian Goodman take US slalom title

SQUAW VALLEY, Calif.

World champion Mikaela Shiffrin straddled a gate in the final run, handing the slalom title to Canadian Ana Goodman on Sunday in the U.S. Alpine Championship.

The 18-year-old Shiffrin, from Vail, Colo., had a 1.22-second lead after the opening run, but straddled the gate in the tight middle section in the second run.

Goodman, a student at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, had the fastest second run. She recently won the NorAm slalom.
