Penguin Swimming earns Lake Erie titles

CLEVELAND

The Penguin Swimming team earned four short course titles during the recent Lake Erie Gold Short Course Championship meet at Cleveland State University.

Nearly 1,000 swimmers from across the state competed. The three-day event concluded the short course season for the Penguins which started in October.

Winning titles for the Penguins were Madeline Lauther (11-12 girls) in the 50 back, 100 back, and 200 back.

For the boys, the title winner was River Flatley (9-10 boys) who won the 100 fly. Flatley also gained a AAAA time standard in the butterfly event.

Eight team records were broken during the meet. Swimmers with new records are: Lauther 50 back (29.33), 200 back (2:15.04), 100 IM (1:05.29) and 400 IM (5:00.56); Flatley 50 fly (31.44) and 100 Fly (1:10.01); and Aimee Gysegem 200 back (2:10.40) and 200 fly (2:11.43).

Gaining Top 10 finishes in the meet were: Lauther (eight events), Flatley (seven), Callen Aulizia (six), Gysegem (four), Mikel Flatley (four), Noah Marsh (three), Daniel Bogen (two) and Dean Boyd (two).
