AUCTIONS

St. Joseph the Provider School in Youngstown will sponsor its annual basket auction and buffet dinner April 5 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Social Hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel Ave., Youngstown. The dinner consists of pasta and meatballs, chicken, sausage and peppers, salad, vegetable, potato, soft drinks, coffee and tea. There will be a cash bar, prizes and gift baskets. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and buffet begins at 7:30. A drawing will be at 9. Tickets are $20 each and include the dinner and 25 tickets. They are available at the school office, 330-259-0353, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, OH 44510, or at the door. Tables of eight will cost $160, and reservations for eight deadline is April 1.

BOOK SALES

Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, is preparing for its 57th annual used book sale from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. April 24 and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 25 and 26.

CARD, BINGO PARTIES

Altar & Rosary Society of Holy Apostles Parish, St. Stephen of Hungary Church, 954 Wilson Ave., Youngstown, is sponsoring a spring fling bingo and card party at 2 p.m. April 21 in the church social hall. Donation is $5 and includes lunch and door prizes. Tickets can be purchased at the door. There also will be a raffle and 50-50 drawing. For information call 330-743-1905.

Mother of the Crucifix will have its annual bingo and card party at 3 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Social Hall, Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown. Donation is $6.

St. Jude Parish, 180 Seventh St., Columbiana, will have super bingo April 7. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. for lunch. Games begin at 2 p.m. Donation of $25 will include free daubers, coffee and pop all day, cards for games and chance to win $3,400 in cash prizes. Specials will be sold separately. There will be a lunch counter and bake sale.

Trumbull County Federated Democratic Women’s Club will have its annual card party from 2 to 5 p.m. April 21 at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic NE, Warren. FUNDRAISERS

Special Olympics Fundraiser will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 6 at Bev Road MASCO Workshop, 825 Bev Road, Boardman. Over 800 items will be available for purchase at the Shop Till You Drop Sale benefitting the Mahoning County DD Special Olympics. The event also will include 100 gift baskets and a gift-card raffle valued at $500 of gift cards to local restaurants, bakeries, retail stores, golf items, salons and more. St. Patrick Youngstown/St. Vincent de Paul is sponsoring a ladies night out from 6 to 8 p.m. April 11 at The Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road, Canfield. The theme is “Sophistication for You and Your Home.” The cost is $10. Ideas of interior decorating and gardening will be shared, and vendor displays and demonstrations will be available. NIGHTS AT RACES

Legacy Dog Rescue & For the Dogs Rescue Night at the Races will take place April 12 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1024 Vienna Ave. (state Route 46), Niles. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the first race at 7. Admission is $5. If you buy your ticket in advance, you will receive five free basket-auction tickets. Take 10 or more pounds of dog food, and you’ll receive five more auction tickets. There also will be a 50-50 raffle and food and beer for sale. United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley is partnering with AFL-CIO Community Services for night at the races April 6 at Operating Engineers Hall Local 66, 291 McClurg Road, Boardman, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Post time will be 7:30.

RAFFLES

Shrine of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted, 517 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, is selling tickets for an Easter basket raffle and 50-50 drawing. There will be two food baskets, which will contain a ham, turkey, kielbasa and the trimmings for an Easter meal plus other food items and gifts. The drawing will take place Sunday after the noon Mass. Winners need not be present. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

SALES

Girard Junior Women’s Club will have its annual trunk sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11 at 100 N. Market St., Girard. The event will take place rain or shine. Call 330-545-5962 if interested in renting space for $10 each.

Springtime in Columbiana, an event sponsored by Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau, is announcing a French Market that will take place in the parking lot of Grace Church on Main Street, rain or shine. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 and 4. Booth spaces are limited for a minimum donation of $20; contact the tourism office at 330-482-2282. SPECIAL EVENTS

New Bethel Baptist Church Hospitality Ministry is sponsoring a Spring Hat Extravaganza luncheon at noon April 27 at McMenamy’s Banquet Center, 325 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles. Cost is $20 per person, and the guest speaker will be Sister Lynn Phillips of Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church. Wear your hats. Men are welcome. There will be vendors, door prizes and more.
