BRACEVILLE TOWNSHIP

Todd M. Smith, 35, and Gina C. Little, 18, both of 144 West Gate Drive, Newton Falls, were arraigned Thursday in Newton Falls Municipal Court on charges related to the stabbing of two men at the Arhaven Mobile Home Park.

Police say Jamie Stein, 33, was stabbed seven times early Thursday during a robbery, suffering serious injuries and remained in St. Joseph Health Center.

Timothy J. Wagner, 31, was treated at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital but was released later Thursday.

Smith and Little both were charged with aggravated robbery, while Smith was charged with felonious assault, and Little was charged with complicity to felonious assault.

No plea was entered during the arraignment, and Judge Phil Vigorito set bond at $100,000 for each.

Maj. James Stewart of Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office said Smith stabbed the men at 12:41 a.m. in the trailer where Stein and Wagner live, near the trailer where Smith and Little live.

Witnesses say Smith and Little went to the trailer at 136 West Gate and entered the trailer with masks on and demanded money and drugs.

Stein told them he had no money, and Smith stabbed Stein while the other suspect fled into another room. Smith’s mask came off during the struggle, a witness said, and he was able to identify him as Smith. Police believe the other suspect was Little.

Smith’s girlfriend told police Smith and Little planned the robbery because Smith was $1,200 behind on the rent and needed money.

Little was found in the trailer at 136 West Gate, and she claimed not to know what Smith planned to do at the trailer other than ask to borrow $5 for cigarettes.

Police arrested Smith a short time later after finding him in the bedroom at his trailer.
