Valerie Harper to appear on ‘Doctors’
NEW YORK
Actress Valerie Harper plans to discuss her brain cancer with some television doctors.
The daytime talk show “The Doctors” said Harper will appear Monday to talk with Travis Stork, Lisa Masterson, Andrew Ordon and her team of doctors.
The 1970s sitcom star has been diagnosed with a rare brain cancer and told she has as little as three months to live. She says her husband briefly withheld the diagnosis from her because it was so dire.
The now-73-year-old Harper played Rhoda Morgenstern on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and its spinoff, “Rhoda.”
She’s given the full hour of Monday’s talk show and is surprised by former co-stars Ed Asner and Cloris Leachman.
NBC says Harper also will be interviewed by Savannah Guthrie on the “Today” show Monday.
Outpouring follows death of TV host
WHITEFISH, Mont.
The Sportsman Channel says it’s deeply saddened by the death of one of its TV hosts who traveled the world in search of big game and shared his adventures on his program, “A Rifleman’s Journal.”
The company in a statement on its Facebook page says it will miss 43-year-old Gregory G. Rodriguez’s “thoughtfulness, candor and dedication to encourage a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience for all.”
Police say Rodriguez, of Sugar Land, Texas, died Thursday in northwestern Montana when he was shot by another man apparently in a jealous rage while the TV personality visited the shooter’s wife.
An outpouring on social media has followed the death of Rodriguez, who combined his comfort in front of the camera with hunting and shooting expertise into a popular program.
“We’re all in a state of shock and disbelief right now,” said David Kelly, a spokesman for the Houston Safari Club, of which Rodriguez was a member.
Rodriguez is survived by his wife, Lisa, and two children. In a statement issued Saturday, the family said he was in Montana on a business trip.
