Marquees to dim for Gandolfini

NEW YORK

Broadway theaters will dim their marquee lights tonight in memory of James Gandolfini, “The Sopranos” star who earned a Tony Award nomination in 2009.

The Broadway League said Tuesday the lights will be dimmed for one minute at exactly 8 p.m.

The 51-year-old actor died last Wednesday in Rome, and a funeral will take place Thursday at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in New York City.

Gandolfini received a Tony nomination for his role in the award-winning “God of Carnage.” He also appeared on Broadway in “On the Waterfront” in 1995 and “A Streetcar Named Desire” in 1992.

Halle Berry describes child’s harassment

SACRAMENTO, Calif.

Actress Halle Berry has testified in favor of California legislation that would limit the ability of paparazzi to photograph the children of celebrities.

With dozens of journalists tailing her through the Capitol in Sacramento, Berry said Tuesday her daughter doesn’t want to go to school because of the dozens of paparazzi who lie in wait and then jump out to take pictures of the 5-year-old with her Academy Award-winning mother.

The Assembly Committee on Public Safety later voted in favor of the bill.
