YOUNGSTOWN — An underground cable that provides power to The Vindicator failed early this morning causing a surge that has impacted several buildings downtown.
Mark Durbin, spokesman for FirstEnergy, said The Vindicator production building is the only building that does not have power.
The problem occurred around 7 a.m. today and to restore power to The Vindicator FirstEnergy will create a forced outage that will effect 29 businesses downtown, he said.
“We’re in the process of contacting those customers,” he said.
The forced outage was expected to hit downtown soon, officials told The Vindicator.
