Plan B is an assault on children

Thanks to the Obama Ad- ministration’s decision to drop its appeal against a federal court decision to mandate unfettered access to Plan B, our daughters, our young pre-teen girls, will no longer need parental involvement or a prescription to purchase this morning-after contraception pill. Democrat and Republican, pro-choice and pro-life alike should be outraged at the Obama Administration’s refusal to protect our children and to defend a parent’s right to know what drugs are being sold to our children and why.

Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood, is celebrating Obama’s decision as a “breakthrough for access to birth control and a historic moment for women’s health and equity.” But we’re not talking about women. We’re talking about girls. Children. Adolescents who have yet to pass the seventh grade being able to take Plan B without a prescription and without their parents knowing. Girls who may be the victims of sexual abuse hiding their suffering, hiding their victimhood with the tacit assistance of a community that no longer dares to stand up for them or their parents.

This campaign strategy is effectively pushing mom and dad out of the picture. Unlimited access of Plan B is Obama and Planned Parenthood’s war on girlhood and their war on childhood.

President Obama was initially correct to fight the over-the-counter availability of the drug, noting that its possible nonprescription distribution to his two daughters made him uncomfortable. But by reversing course, he just dropped the age limit on Plan B from 17 to zero. How comfortable could that possibly make him?
