Covelli Enterprises, the Covelli Centre and 21 WFMJ- TV have launched “Love is A Battlefield Contest” to acknowledge all of the “soldiers” fighting against cancer in the community.

The subjects of the top three submissions will have a meet-and-greet with singer Pat Benatar and receive concert tickets and other prizes.

The contest seeks inspirational stories of not only breast cancer survivors, but also current patients, caregivers, medical personnel, researchers or family and friends affected by any form of cancer. The purpose of the contest is to honor those individuals who are on the “battlefield” fighting against or fighting to end cancer in our Valley.

Entries will be accepted through July 8, and submissions should be a story of 250 words or less. All entries should be submitted to covellicontests@gmail.com or mailed to 229 E. Front St. Youngstown, OH 55503 Attn: Love is A Battlefield Contest.

For contest details and regulations, visit www.covellicentre.com, www.wfmj.com, or www.panerathon.org.

A “Panerathon” panel will choose the top 10 entries to receive a $50 Panera Bread gift card. From this group, the panel will select three winners. In addition to the Benatar meeting, the subjects of the top submissions will receive a $100 Panera Bread gift card and tickets for them and a guest to see Benatar and Neil Giraldo on Aug. 16 at the Covelli Centre for the start of Panerathon week. Winners also will be honored on stage Aug. 25 at the Panerathon.

The contest is a prelude to the Panerathon 10K/2-mile run/walk and kids run, which raises money for the HMHP Foundation in support of the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center.

Tickets for the Pat Benatar concert are on sale, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Panerathon cause.
