Struthers woman enters guilty pleas in son's abuse

YOUNGSTOWN — A Struthers woman accused of allowing her son to be abused by her boyfriend that ultimately led to the boy's death entered guilty pleas this morning before Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge R. Scott Krichbaum.

Shain Widdersheim of Creed Street entered guilty pleas to four counts of child endangering and a count of obstruction of justice. Prosecutors are recommending a 10-year prison sentence. She sobbed through the entire proceeding.

She is accused of allowing her son, Teddy Foltz, 14, to be abused by her boyfriend, Zaryl Bush. That abuse led to Foltz's death in January, prosecutors said.

The coroner's office ruled that Foltz died of blunt force trauma to the head. Bush also faces charges for the boy's death and has a pretrial hearing later this week.
