The city schools and the Quaglia Institute for Student Aspirations are hosting sessions this month to prepare incoming seventh- and eighth- graders to East High School for a successful transition to high school.

Seventh- and eighth- graders will be housed in a separate wing of the high school building this coming school year.

The program, dubbed Project SAY — Student Aspirations Youngstown — will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 20 and 21 for entering seventh- graders, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 22 and 23 for incoming eighth-graders at the school.

Activities focus on building students’ aspirations and relationships and introducing students to the My Aspirations Academic Plan. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided along with a closing ice-cream celebration. Transportation will be by the city schools.

Registration is required by Aug. 9 and may be made by calling East at 330-740-4005.
