Wednesday, July 31, 2013

YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a man is dead after an overnight standoff in southwest Ohio that included an exchange of gunfire.

Police in Yellow Springs say officers were called to a home in the city just east of Dayton about 11 p.m. Tuesday on a reported disturbance. The Dayton Daily News reports the Greene County sheriff says officers were met with gunfire. A SWAT robot entered the house around 5 a.m. and found the suspect down on the floor.

The sheriff’s office today referred calls for comment to the police department.

Officials say a coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine how the man died.

Police say no one else was injured. A police dispatcher says the suspect’s name is being withheld until family members can be notified.
