1973:The city of Youngstown has been ordered to show cause in U.S. District Court in Cleveland why a permanent injunction should not be issued to prevent shutting off water service because of unpaid bills to South Side families and other residents in certain circumstances.
1963: George Milton Humphreys, 2 Ω-year- old son of Mr. And Mrs. Carl Humphreys of Newton Falls, is run over by a car at Lake Milton beach but emerges without serious injury.
James A Robertson, superintendent of the hydraulic department at Commercial Shearing & Stamping Co., is killed when his rowboat collides with a speedboat on Conneaut Lake.
1938: Testifying before a Senate civil liberties committee, Frank Purnell, president of Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co., says that during the 1937 “Little Steel” strike the company’s arsenal contained $10,000 worth of tear gas, eight machine guns, 452 revolvers, 314 pistols and 190 shotguns.
