Events to close streets

Youngstown

Youngstown streets will be affected from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday for community block parties: Crandall Avenue will be closed between Wirt Street and Margaret Avenue; and Neilson Avenue will be closed between Point View Avenue and Kent Street.

Closed for festival

Youngstown

The Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festival will affect the following streets from 8 a.m. Wednesday through 7 a.m. Monday: Mount Carmel Avenue at Watt Street and East Wood Street at Watt Street will be closed to accommodate festival traffic only.

New fire vehicle

COITSVILLE

Trustees on Monday approved the purchase of a new fire department vehicle.

The current Chevrolet Suburban from the early 1980s will soon be replaced by a 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe. It’s a larger vehicle, and one with four-wheel drive, which will allow easier winter driving.

The 2014 model will cost $30,990 — the state purchase price — while $9,010 will be spent on equipping the vehicle, said Trustee Greg Haren.

The vehicle will be used for EMS and fire calls, as well as for transportation to department-related seminars.

Released from jail

WARREN

Farrah Jones, 32, of Willard Avenue Southeast, was released from the Trumbull County jail Monday after posting $3,500 bond in the Saturday afternoon stabbing of a 24-year-old Milton Street Southeast man.

An innocent plea was entered for Jones in Warren Municipal Court to one count of felonious assault after the man reported that Jones threw a cup of coffee at him, then picked up a piece of the broken cup and cut him on the face and chest with it at 3:38 p.m. at his house.
