The Rev. Gregory Fitch, formerly of Youngstown, is the new spiritual life director at John Knox Village. He has more than 22 years of pastoral experience. His mother, Betty Fitch, lives in Youngstown.
In the 1980s, he was pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church, Flint, Mich. Since then, he has served with a number of organizations across the United States and Western Europe and his ministry has taken him to more than 25 countries. For 12 years, the Rev. Mr. Fitch was senior pastor of the International Church of Geneva, Switzerland. It was the largest church in the city, which had more than 80 different nationalities represented.
Also at that time, Mr. Fitch was an adjunct faculty member with the University of the Nations, Lausanne, Switzerland, Vienna, Austria, Venice, Italy and Amsterdam, Holland.
He then was executive pastor with Boulder Valley Church in Longmont, Colo.
After relocating to Florida, he was chaplain of two hospice organizations in South Florida.
Mr. Fitch also volunteered as the chief of chaplains for Delray Beach police and fire departments.
As spiritual life director, he will lead the village’s Sunday services and work with the Chapel Committee.
Mr. Fitch and his wife, Colleen, have six children and 13 grandchildren.
He attended Kent and Youngstown state universities and earned a master of divinity at American Christian Seminary in California. He is pursuing a doctorate focusing on geriatrics.
