Larry R. Crawford, a clerical specialist with the Trumbull County Department of Job and Family Services will serve a 15- work-day unpaid suspension and be demoted for snooping into computerized documents for which he didn’t have access.

The county commis- sioners authorized the disciplinary measures Wednesday.

Crawford will be demoted from clerical specialist 3 to clerical specialist 1, and another 15 days of unpaid leave will be held in abeyance, meaning they will be added to his punishment if another infraction occurs over the next year.

He accessed computerized documents relating to JFS clients and co-workers without authorization, said John Gargano, JFS director.

Anyone finding such documents without proper access receives a message on his or her computer warning them they are off limits.

But it was easy for administrators to track the improper usage, Gargano said.

“The computer documents everything,” Gargano said, adding that he’s not aware of any damage to co-workers or clients that resulted from the worker’s accessing the files.
