Mike Kolk, a tax partner at regional CPA and business advisory firm Cohen & Company, raised $5,736 in the 2013 FirstMerit Towpath Century Ride. The 101-mile Century Ride is an event to raise awareness and funding for the Ohio and Erie Canalway Coalition.

Sharon Regional Health System has hired Kim Stephenson, RN, as its new childbirth educator. Stephenson is a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator who is teaching prepared childbirth classes for the Women’s Center.

Meridian Community Care has made two changes to its board of directors. William Padisak will assume the position of board president. Joining the Meridian Board of Directors is Atty. Tracie Schmidt.

Dr. Sheetal Nijhawan, a specialist in bariatric surgery, advanced laparoscopic surgery and a board-certified general surgeon, joined the medical staff of Sharon Regional Health System.

Retirement Homes

Rich Mendenhall has been named as the June employee of the month for Shepherd of the Valley-Niles. Mendenhall is the Environmental Services director and has been with Shepherd of the Valley-Niles since August 2001.

Shepherd of the Valley-Poland has selected Kyle Stevens as employee of the month for April. Stevens joined the SOV-Poland staff in October 2011 as a residential assistant.
