Man to plead in child porn, threats case
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man is scheduled to change his not guilty plea to charges he possessed child pornography and threatened to have the postal inspector who investigated him raped and murdered.
Forty-nine-year-old Todd Markley, of Export, is scheduled to appear before a federal judge in Pittsburgh this afternoon. Markley’s attorney hasn’t returned requests for comment.
Markley had previously pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing child pornography and threatening to have someone rape and murder a female U.S. postal inspector.
Markley was charged last May with ordering a catalog from a company purporting to be a child porn supplier. In reality, the business was part of a sting set up by the postal inspector.
Investigators got Markley’s name from a customer list of a Los Angeles child porn company that was raided in 2006.
