PTO parent volunteers came together to provide students at Dobbins Elementary School with a Thanksgiving feast Nov. 26.

“The students have been excited for this all week,” said Nick Henry, a second-grade teacher. “We made headbands last week, as well as pilgrim hats and bonnets.”

Many of the students wore their festive head gear to the feast.

The classes prepared for the event by doing Thanksgiving-themed readings, discussing different traditions each family has on Thanksgiving and watching movies, including the tale of the first Thanksgiving. Henry’s class spent part of the day watching “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.”

“Our PTO is amazing,” said Michael Daley. “The PTO working at the grade level and the home room parents worked really hard to put on the feast. Any time we can promote family events is always fun and the teachers do such a great job tying it to the ciriculum.”
