Tap House to have grand opening

YOUNGSTOWN

Rust Belt Brewing Co. Tap House will have its grand opening Jan. 17 at 112 W. Commerce St., downtown.

The Tap House is currently in a soft-opening phase, but the celebration next month marks the inauguration of the Tap House as a tasting room designed to supplement Rust Belt Brewing Co.’s beer-making operations.

The Tap House will feature Rust Belt’s four core beers and a selection of local craft beers, wines and liquors.

Leadership Academy

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is hosting its 2014 Mahoning Valley Local Government Leadership Academy.

The nine-week program offers a series of classes aimed at educating people to become government leaders. Participants must attend at least seven of the nine classes to graduate.

Classes run from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Jan. 28 and ending March 25. The academy will kick off with a light dinner at the chamber offices on the 17th floor of 11 Central Square in downtown Youngstown.

Since its founding, more than 120 Valley residents have graduated from the academy.

The program cost is $260, and interested parties can register by calling Amanda Shina, the chamber’s business services coordinator, at 330-744-2131, ext. 32, or email her at amanda@regionalchamber.com.

Salem chamber’s annual meeting

The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce will have its annual meeting Jan. 24 at the Salem Community Center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave.

The event will include awards for citizen, small business and large business of the year, and six new chamber board members will be elected.

Until this year, the annual meeting has always been in November, but bylaws changed the date to January for this and future years.

Southwoods facility receives honor

Press Ganey Associates Inc. named The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods a winner of the Guardian of Excellence Award, which recognizes top-performing facilities that consistently placed in the 95th percentile for patient satisfaction.

Southwoods has now maintained the honor for four consecutive years.

ODNR director to speak at luncheon

James Zehinger, director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, will be the guest speaker at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber’s Government Affairs Council luncheon Jan. 16.

The luncheon will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre, 123 N. Main St.

The cost is $20 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers.
