POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Girard and Liberty:

HUBBARD

Dec. 12

Domestic violence: Danielle Hall, 29, of Hazen Place, Sharon, Pa., was charged with the crime after her husband, of Hubbard, alleged an intoxicated Hall had repeatedly punched his face and hands, then tossed a child’s car seat at him during an ongoing fight between them.

Dec. 13

Harassment: A Christian Avenue woman said her boyfriend, from whom she’s separated, persistently sent and made unwanted text messages and calls to her.

Child endangerment: A Christian Avenue woman told officers that upon arriving home, she noticed suspicious marks on her 3-year-old son’s neck and chin. The boy allegedly said that a 30-year-old Hubbard man had held his neck, a police report showed.

Dec. 14

Arrest: Police investigated a vehicular crash in the 1000 block of Doris Drive, where they charged John C. Clark, 36, of Pothour-Wheeler Road, Hubbard, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Harassment: A Stewart Avenue woman said a man has made intermittent, inappropriate calls to her.

Attempted theft: A worker for a Youngstown-Hubbard Road business reported a man claiming to be with Ohio Edison Co. stated the owner needed to pay $988.53 or the business’s power would be disconnected.

Dec. 15

Harassment: An East Water Street girl and her father told officers she received sexually-suggestive and inappropriate text messages that apparently originated from Delaware.

Dec. 16

Domestic violence: Scott E. Putnam, 33, of Hillview Drive, Hubbard, was charged after a woman alleged Pullman had thrown her to the ground during an argument.

Fraud: An elderly Timberview Drive woman reported a man claiming to represent Microsoft Corp. said she had computer viruses and tried to get her to pay $299 for what he claimed was lifetime anti-virus protection for the computer.

Arrest: A traffic stop near School Street resulted in the arrest of 51-year-old Jeffrey A. Clark on charges of operating a vehicle impaired and failure to comply with police. Clark, of Jerry Drive, Hubbard, led authorities on a brief chase, then failed to follow certain commands, a report said.

GIRARD

Dec. 12

Burglary: Joseph Brackbill, 57, of Smithsonian Street, Girard, faced a burglary charge after a Townsend Avenue woman reported hearing suspicious noises and seeing an unknown person in her hallway. Police confronted Brackbill in the kitchen after he apparently had entered through an unlocked rear door, though nothing seemed to be missing, a report showed.

Dec. 13

Arrest: Authorities received a tip about a wanted person before they took a Girard girl, no age given, into custody. She was wanted on a warrant from the Trumbull County Juvenile Detention Center in Warren.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 300 block of Taylor Avenue was found with a smashed rear window. The damage estimate was $250.

Dec. 15

Theft: A Church Hill Road woman told officers she had ordered online a dual camera/electronic tablet device and a pair of boots but never received the package despite the United Parcel Service’s having delivered it.

Recovered property: An East Prospect Street man reported finding a gas-powered snow blower and a snow shovel next to his garage, though police had no information that the items had been stolen.

Menacing: A Church Hill Road woman alleged her child’s father threatened to tie her up following an argument between them.

Dec. 16

Theft: An East Broadway Avenue man reported a $400 firearm stolen from a friend’s home.

Dec. 17

Arrest: Authorities dealt with a disturbance on East Liberty Street, where they charged Anthony Kornegay, 20, of East Liberty, Girard, with disorderly conduct. Kornegay, who also was wanted on an assault charge, became highly agitated and combative when police told him about the warrant, they contended.

Harassment: A West Second Street woman reported getting a threatening text message, evidently from Texas.

Breaking and entering: A $110 Xbox system was removed from a residence in the 30 block of Abbey Street, though police said they found no signs of forced entry.

Harassment: A Forsythe Avenue man said he received four such calls.

LIBERTY

Dec. 12

Arrest: Authorities received information about possible prostitution at an East Liberty Street motel, where they charged 33-year-old Angela Viglio with soliciting, a third-degree misdemeanor. Viglio, of Washington Boulevard, Boardman, admitted having acted as a prostitute over a four-week period, a report showed.

Dec. 13

Arrest: Youngstown police apprehended 25-year-old Lavar Paige of Philadelphia Avenue, Youngstown. Paige was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on charges of driving under suspension and failure to comply with police.

Drugs: Officers received a call about several suspicious vehicles at a Belmont Avenue restaurant, where they charged James R. Tibolla, 35, of North Park Avenue, Bristolville, with two counts of drug abuse and one of possession of criminal tools, as well as Gina L. Hunter, 22, of South Portland Avenue, Youngstown, with trafficking in marijuana. Hunter admitted having sold to Tibolla a bag of suspected marijuana for $80 and two Ecstasy tablets for $30, police said. Also, a bag containing 73 Vicodin tablets with no prescription was found, the report showed.

Arrest: Authorities in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue took custody of 28-year-old John C. Sigley of Matta Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a warrant.

Arrest: A man at a Belmont Avenue business called 911 to report that a suspicious person claiming to be a police officer on several occasions demanded the accuser show his concealed-carry permit, which led to a misdemeanor charge of impersonating a peace officer against 30-year-old Eric Skruck Jr. of Brookside Drive, Hubbard. Skruck had no badge but admitted having a flashing blue light on his dashboard, a report said.

Drugs: After being pulled over on state Route 193, Darrell L. Herron, 29, was charged with marijuana possession. Herron, of Fourth Drive Southwest, Warren, had 24.6 grams of suspected marijuana in his waistband, police said.

Arrest: A vehicle check in the 4700 block of Belmont Avenue led to the arrest of 33-year-old James A. Anderson after police learned Anderson, of Hyde Avenue, Niles, was wanted on a Geauga County warrant.

Dec. 14

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 3600 block of Belmont Avenue resulted in the arrest of 21-year-old Jordan A. Burnett of Helena Avenue, Youngstown, on a warrant from the city. He also was charged with driving under suspension.

Dec. 15

Drugs: Police on Liberty Street pulled over and charged Rocco E. Bugno of Penhale Avenue, Campbell, with possession of drug-abuse instruments and having fictitious license plates after alleging the 27-year-old Bugno had two used syringes and a spoon with burn marks common in drug use.

Dec. 16

Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed 27-year-old Lenny L. Vaughn to township authorities. Vaughn, of Northgate Drive, Liberty, was wanted on a felony warrant.

Arrest: While dealing with an unwanted person in the 2900 block of Northview Drive, officers took 50-year-old Nelson Moore Jr. of Northview, Liberty, into custody. He was wanted on Youngstown warrants.

Dec. 17

Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail arrested Jose M. Vega, 23, of Meadowbrook Avenue, Boardman, on an outstanding Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Dec. 18

Arrest: Eric R. Lesick, 45, of Glacier Avenue, Youngstown, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Theft/weapon: After $1,370 worth of merchandise was stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, authorities arrested William R. Duncan, 29, of Ferndale Street, Warren, on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, being a convicted felon with a firearm, possession of criminal tools and obstructing official business, along with Rebecca L. Walker of Middlefield and Timothy A. Hinkle, 45, of South Leavitt Road, Leavittsburg, who faced charges of theft and possession of criminal tools. A loaded .38-caliber revolver was found, and knives were used to cut some of the packaging of the items, police said.

Arrest: Officers responded to a disruptive person at Walmart before taking into custody 44-year-old Antonio Hawthorne of Linwood Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on Hubbard and Trumbull County warrants.
