MANSFIELD, Ohio (AP) — The state Supreme Court has upheld the development of a 91-turbine wind farm in north-central Ohio, rejecting opponents’ arguments that they were denied due process rights.
The court’s decision affirms the approval of the Black Fork Wind Farm in parts of Richland and Crawford counties by a 2012 decision of the Ohio Power Siting Board.
The Mansfield NewsJournal reports the court’s Wednesday decision found that opponents had plenty of opportunity to express their position, including cross-examining witnesses.
The paper says the project could generate up to 200 megawatts of power and have a life span of 20 to 25 years.
Ohio law requires that 25 percent of electricity sold in the state come from alternative energy sources by 2025.
