FRESH CHRISTMAS HURRICANE CENTERPIECE
When: Dec. 19, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
What: Join florist Marie Borocz in creating a Christmas table centerpiece.

Sunlight (Ages 3-5)
When: Today, 1 to 2 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to noon.
What: Children and caregivers learn how sun warms the earth and makes plants grow. Snack, story and art will complete the day.

When: Friday, 8:30 to 10 a.m.
What: Start with a walk to see plants in the gardens with Keith Kaiser. Return to Garden Cafe for light breakfast and interesting facts about fir trees.

NATURE’S NEW YEAR
When: Saturday, 5-7 p.m.
What: Celebrate shortest day of the year with informal bonfire reception, warm drinks, tasty treats. Observe night sky; discuss observable stars, constellations, winter weather.
Where: Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center, 16146 Daniel St. NE, Minerva.

Natural Holiday Decorations (Ages 6-11)
When: Saturday, 1:30 to 3 p.m.
What: Adorn your home and your own Norfolk Island pine tree with decorations from pine cones to berries. Make ornaments, garlands from those natural materials.

WINTER HIKE
When: Sunday, 2-4 p.m.
What: Celebrate arrival of winter with chilly, but beautiful, 2-mile hike through the rocks. Meet at Bear’s Den Cabin. Afterward, warm up with hot chocolate.

Winter Nights in the Gardens
When: Sunday and next Sunday, 5 to 7 p.m.
What: Stroll along garden paths, enjoy Winter Celebration festivities, cookies, cocoa, entertainment. Support Second Harvest Food Bank with nonperishable food item.
