Addict gets prison for buying gun used in cop-killing

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A Philadelphia drug addict must spend 20 to 66 years in prison for making an illegal “straw purchase” of a gun used by a convicted felon to ambush and kill a suburban police officer.

Thirty-one-year-old Michael Joseph Henry was sentenced Thursday. He had previously pleaded guilty to accepting $500 each to buy nine guns for 44-year-old Andrew Charles Thomas, who was on probation.

Authorities say Thomas then used one of those guns to fatally shoot Plymouth Township Police Officer Bradley Fox during a chase after Thomas had fled from a hit-and-run crash on Sept. 13. Thomas then fatally shot himself.

Henry apologized to Fox’s family saying, “I can’t imagine the pain you go through. I have no one to blame but myself. I was not thinking about the consequences.”
