At the Trumbull County Children Services agency’s annual Rising Up and Moving On banquet, James and Brandi Bobco of Liberty were honored for their commitment to getting off drugs to regain custody of their son.
“James and Brandi are a noteworthy illustration of determination and commitment,” a case worker said at Friday’s banquet at McMenamy’s Banquet Center in Niles.
“They became involved with the agency when their son, Warren, was born positive for cocaine, opiates, marijuana and methadone” the worker said.
The couple was desperate to some day have their son home with them, and they agreed to participate in the Family Dependency Treatment Court starting March 30, 2012. They graduated March 29, 2013.
“They have been sober since February 2012 and have gone nowhere but forward, grasping onto recovery,” the worker said.
They received temporary custody of their son on July 10, 2012, completed parenting classes and followed many other requirements.
“Warren recently celebrated his first birthday as a healthy, happy, intelligent little man,” the worker said.
Workers also recognized LeAmber Bridges, 18, of Warren, Rebecca Foulk of Warren and Tyrell Jethrow, 18, of Liberty.
