Councilman John R. Swierz suffers heart attack
YOUNGSTOWN — Longtime Youngstown City Councilman John R. Swierz, D-7th, suffered a mild heart attack at his home Thursday.
Swierz, who is at the St. Elizabeth Health Center, is expected to be out of the hospital in a couple of days, said council President Jamael Tito Brown.
“Our prayers are with him,” Brown said.
Known for his focus on community issues, Brown joked that Swierz “might do some house checking [for code violations] on his way back home.”
