Weekend events abound in Greenville

GREENVILLE, PA.

River meets the road in a weekend of fun and fitness today through Sunday in Greenville.

Mercer County Trails Association and Shenango River Watchers have teamed up to offer a weekend filled with camping, bicycle tours, a river excursion, music, food and fun for the entire family.

Participants begin the weekend by camping this evening in Riverside Park, located along the Shenango River right in the heart of Greenville near the YMCA, 45 Alan Ave.

Participants are invited by Thiel College for a free concert by Chris Kegle and fireworks at Thiel College Alumni Stadium.

Registration for Pedal the Lakes bicycle tour takes place from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday just north of Riverside Park at the Greenville Sports Complex, located at 262 Porter Road, Greenville. There is a registration fee, and T-shirts are available.

Sunday’s Paddle Fest of “seven gentle miles,” also sponsored by Jamestown and Greenville Lions clubs, will begin in Riverside Park. Shuttle service will be provided and there is a registration fee per craft.
