POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Sept. 18

Theft: A Misty Ridge Trail woman reported the theft of a $3,000 wedding/engagement ring.

Theft: A $600 car stereo was removed from a vehicle in the 6600 block of Katahdin Drive.

Sept. 19

Complaint: Police received a barking-dog complaint from the 8400 block of Morningside Drive.

Criminal damaging: A McDonald man reported damage to his vehicle while in the 8600 block of Four Seasons Trail.

Sept. 20

Menacing: An employee with a Center Road store reported having been threatened at work.

BOARDMAN

Sept. 21

Theft: A township girl, 17, was charged with stealing $47 worth of merchandise from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road, then released to the custody of her mother.

Drugs: Robert D. Shank, 31, of 4960 Brookwood Road, Boardman, faced a felony heroin-possession charge during a traffic stop near his residence. Shank, who also was wanted on a probation-violation charge, had a container with a small bag of a powder that appeared to be heroin, police said.

Assault: A Poland woman told police another woman grabbed her hair and punched the accuser near a restroom at the Southern Park Mall. The woman had a red mark close to her right eye.

Theft: A car stereo was taken from a vehicle in the 7300 block of Market Street.

Fraud: A Twin Oaks Court man discovered four $100 unauthorized charges to his credit card that originated from a Walmart store in Tulsa, Okla.

Sept. 22

Theft: Police charged Robert J. Reber, 44, of 4486 Lockwood Blvd., with stealing about $82 worth of food and health products from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Arrest: Police pulled over 56-year-old Ernest Brown near Midlothian Boulevard, where they charged Brown, of 2334 Tampa Ave., Youngstown, with driving under suspension.

Theft: A woman reported the theft of 150 pills and $30 from her West Boulevard apartment.

Theft: Officers charged a Youngstown girl, 15, with stealing two women’s shirts from the J. C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall. The teen was released to the custody of her mother.

Assault: Two Sheridan Road men reported having been pushed or punched by the other.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle was found with a broken driver’s-side window.

Vandalism: A Southern Boulevard man reported one of his tires came off as he drove near his home before he learned that someone had apparently loosened the lug nuts to both front tires.

Sept. 23

Theft: Police charged Crystal D. Michlich, 28, of 306 12th St., Greenville, Pa., with stealing $71 worth of women’s clothing from the J.C. Penney store.

Assault: Authorities responded to a fight at a South Avenue motel, where a Cleveland man reported having been punched in the back of his head. He suffered a chipped tooth in the altercation.

Theft/criminal damaging: Police answered two complaints about broken car windows in the 700 block of Brookfield Avenue as well as stolen property from the vehicles that included small sums of money and a global-positioning-system unit.

Auto theft: A 2003 Cadillac Escalade was stolen in the 6700 block of West Boulevard.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Glenridge Drive woman said her housekeeper used the accuser’s 2011 Subaru vehicle without permission.

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 6100 block of Mill Creek Boulevard broke a vehicle’s passenger-side window.

Menacing: A woman reported that as she arrived at her place of employment in the 1400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road, a man was waiting for her in a nearby parking lot, in violation of a temporary-protection order. The man also had followed her in a vehicle, she told police.

Theft: Two Bluetooth ear pieces and a set of wireless headphones were stolen from AT&T, 650 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: Three women and a man stole two Bluetooth accessories from AT&T, 7125 Tiffany Blvd.

Attempted burglary: Someone removed three screens from windows in an effort to enter a residence in the 300 block of Argyle Avenue.

Damage: Ten windows to a vacant home in the 8200 block of South Avenue were shattered, possibly by golf balls from a nearby sports complex.

Assault: A Lockwood Boulevard man alleged his former girlfriend slapped, punched and struck him with a plastic jar when he asked the combative woman to leave his residence.

Sept. 24

Breaking and entering: Someone pried open the front door to a Boardman-Poland Road doctor’s office, opened three drawers and took an undisclosed amount of money.

Arrest: Police at a Market Street motel picked up Angela M. Cambert, who listed addresses in Youngstown and Girard. The 33-year-old Cambert was wanted on a probation-violation charge related to a theft case.

Theft: A $241 GPS device was taken from a vehicle parked in the 6700 block of West Boulevard.

Menacing: A South Avenue woman told officers she found two unwanted notes at her residence, possibly left by a man she has a temporary-protection order against.

Theft: Four or five males stole a $130 pair of headphones from AT&T, 7125 Tiffany Blvd.

Counterfeit: A customer unintentionally passed a fake $20 bill at Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave., and was not charged with any wrongdoing.

Sept. 25

Possible theft and forgery: A former employee of a Crossroads Drive business told police the business failed to give her a $250 paycheck in July. The business told the woman she had already cashed the check and after seeing a copy, the woman suspected her signature may have been forged.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Mathews Road man accused his son of taking his 1995 Pontiac Bonneville without permission.

Drugs: Police took into custody 20-year-old Shay J. Brown at his residence, 4010 Hillman Way, Boardman, on a warrant charging him with the theft of narcotics, a fourth-degree felony.

Theft: A GPS device, a debit card, a pack of cigarettes and a stuffed animal were stolen from a car parked in the 1900 block of Wolosyn Circle.

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone kicked a door in an effort to enter a storage garage in the 100 block of Mathews Road.

Theft: Two men in their 20s stole three shirts from the J. C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.

Criminal damaging: A mailbox was damaged in the 6700 block of Appleridge Circle.
