Name: Jane Dreier

Instrument(s): Tuba, sousaphone, and euphonium

Q. When did you start playing your instrument?

A. I started playing the tuba in fifth grade.

Q. If you could play any other instrument, what would it be and why?

A. I wouldn’t want to play any other instrument. The tuba is the best instrument ever.

Q. What band trips did you attend, and which trip was your most memorable?

A. I attended the Disney trip my freshman year, and the New Orleans trip this past year. Seeing the city of New Orleans and performing in the Superdome at the BCS National Championship game made the New Orleans trip the most memorable.

Q. What competitions did you participate in and awards you won?

A. I haven’t really participated in any competitions. The feeling of accomplishment I get after a concert or a band night is honestly the best award I could have.

Q. Why is music important to you?

A. Music is important to me because it’s something that I feel I’ll always have. It’s helped me connect with others, and even kind of helped me learn more about myself. Even if I never participate in band when I’m in college, or even if I never play any instrument ever again after I graduate, I’ll always have the memories of band in high school, and what it gave me.

Q. What college do you hope to attend/intended major?

A. I’m not sure about which college I want to attend yet, but I definitely would like to major in Speech-Language Pathology.
