LEGO event builds creativity

LEGOs are toys that can inspire imagination, much like the books in a library can. Occasionally, the two can be combined.
That was the case on Sept. 11 when the Canfield library hosted its LEGO My Library event from 6 to 8 p.m. Children’s librarians provided the LEGO bricks and for two hours about 15 kids provided the creativity, making everything from houses and castles to scenes from “Star Wars.”
“It was pretty good,” said Billy Sloan, who came to the event.
All the events are designed to get children to come to the library.
“It’s a passive program. Kids can do what they want to do. They do look at books — check things out. It lets them be a part of the library,” said Children’s librarian Kelly Marafiot.
