Girard, Poland lead Division II qualifiers

The Girard, Poland, Hubabrd and Newton Falls boys golf teams have advanced to the Division II District golf tournament.

Girard won the sectional tournament at Candywood Golf Course with a score of 308. Poland was next with 322, followed by Hubbard and Newton Falls with 324 each.

With 74s, Girard’s Jimmy Standohar and Hubbard’s Justin Hallapy were the medalists.

Girard’s other golfers are Evan Standohar (75), Mark Standohar (77) and Nick Krajcirik (82).

Poland’s team has Jason McQuown (76), Mark Passarello (77), Alex Vari (84), Dave Shoffstall (85) and Nick Franceschelli (85).

Hubbard’s other members are Alex Godin (82), Aaron Loveless (82) and Adam Hammond (86).

The Newton Falls players are Jacob Harrah (78), Logan Beechy (79), John Seals (82) and Sean Croell (85).

The individual qualfiers are Grand Valley’s Chandler Verhas (75) and Kurtis Kassay (76) as well as LaBrae’s Gerry Booze (78) and South Range’s BJ Schmitt (78).

In Division III, East Palestine scored 369 to place third at Salem Golf Club behind St. Thomas Aquinas (345) and Lake Center Christian (353).

Individual qualifiers were Leetonia senior Luke Janci with 82 and United junior Bradley Miller and Lisbon freshman Avery Andric, both with 87s.
