Girls golf beats Austintown

The Canfield girls golf team defeated Austintown 172-205 on Monday at the Diamondback golf course. Leading Canfield’s team were Michele Whiteleather (39), Olivia DeMartino (41), Kerra Loomis (46) and Christina Cooper (46).

Canfield seeks bowling coach

Canfield High School is now accepting applications for a girls varsity bowling coach for the upcoming season. Interested candidates should call 330-533-5341 or e-mail gcooper@canfieldschools.net for more information.

Girls soccer defeats Hubbard

The Canfield girls soccer team defeated Hubbard 5-0 on Sept. 19. Canfield outshot the Eagles 23-0. Goals for Canfield were scored by Hannah Day (2), Bailey Fischer, Kaylee Buchenic and Sophia Mancini. Elena Billy had one assist. Canfield goalkeeper Victoria Villano posted the shutout. The junior varsity team defeated Hubbard 4-0.

Canfield beats Niles

Canfield boys varsity soccer team defeated Niles 1-0 on Sept. 18. Cardinal junior Ronnie Mangie made the lone goal with an assist from junior Brady Clark. Canfield goalie Andrik Massaro had two saves. The junior varsity game was won by Canfield, 4-2.

Junior golf results

On Sept. 17, the Canfield junior golf clinic played at the Diamondback golf course. Top players for the fifth and sixth-grade division were Andy Murphy (39), Cole Christman (41) and Bobby Kutsch (65). Top players for the seventh and eighth-grade division were Noah Guerrieri (46), Cade Kreps (47), James Lutton (55) and Sean Devine (56).

Children’s golf clinic

Diamondback Golf Course is offering golf clinics and an afterschool league for kids in grades first through eighth. The last clinic day is Monday at 4 p.m. On Sunday, there will be a parent/child nine-hole golf scramble at 3 p.m. Boys and girls of all skill levels are welcome.

Youngstown Orthopaedic Saturday sports clinic

Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates’ Saturday sports clinics, geared specifically to fall sports student-athletes in need of immediate attention to sports injuries, has started. The clinics run from 9-11 a.m. every Saturday throughout the high school sports season.

These clinics are open to players involved in football, volleyball, soccer, golf and other high school and college sports. They are held at the practice’s Building A at the northwest corner of Tippecanoe Road and Boardman-Canfield Road in Canfield. More information is available at www.youngstownortho.com.
