Pa. panel weighs new hearing for condemned killer

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania’s Pardons Board is considering whether to grant a new hearing to a condemned Philadelphia killer whose first request for clemency was turned down.

The five-member board, which includes Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley and state Attorney General Linda Kelly, plans to meet Thursday morning. If it grants the request of Terrance “Terry” Williams, it will hold the hearing Thursday afternoon.

The 46-year-old Williams is scheduled to be put to death by lethal injection on Oct. 3.

Williams was convicted of robbing and beating a man to death in 1984 when he was 18. Now, Williams says the man had sexually abused him for years prior and is seeking have his sentence commuted to life imprisonment.
