KENT

Both presidential candidates are headed back to Ohio this week as the start of early voting nears, with President Barack Obama traveling to Kent State University for a 3:30 p.m. Wednesday rally as guest of the Kent State College Democrats.

Obama’s appearance will be in KSU’s Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.

The event is free and open to the public, but a ticket is required. They are available at three locations in the Kent area beginning at 9 a.m. today. Tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. One ticket per person.

The locations are: Risman Plaza, Kent State University (in front of the Kent Student Center), 1085 Risman Drive, Kent; Obama for America-Kent, 1307 S. Water St., Kent; and the Obama for America-East Akron, 396 East Waterloo Rd., Akron.

President Obama also plans to visit Bowling Green on Wednesday. He’s highlighting his plan for building the economy “middle-out, not top-down.”

Republican Mitt Romney plans a cross-state bus tour Tuesday and Wednesday focused on the “Romney Plan for a Stronger Middle Class.” Running mate Paul Ryan is to kick off the effort Monday, landing in Dayton and traveling to an event in Lima.

The visits come on the heels of an Ohio Newspaper Organization poll out Sunday showing Obama with a 51 to 46 percent lead over Romney among likely Ohio voters.

Ohio’s early absentee ballots have already been sent to overseas and military voters. Others can begin voting early starting Oct. 2.

There will be no access to the MAC Center Wednesday, with limited access on Tuesday. Parking in a lot behind the Student Center and MAC Center will be limited Monday and Tuesday.
