Mahoning Riverfest planned Oct. 6

Friends of the Mahoning River will sponsor its first Mahoning Riverfest on Oct. 6 at the B & O Station, 530 Mahoning Ave.

The event will take place in conjunction with the Artists of the Rust Belt “Artober” Show & Sale. The Riverfest will be outside in the grassy area along the river. The art show will be inside the B & O Station.

The Riverfest begins at 9 a.m. with bird watching. From 9 to 11 a.m. a band, Full Moon Canoe, will play. Displays, presentations and demonstrations will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Included are activities for children such as face-painting, face-mask painting, crafts, and stone- skipping across the Mahoning River as well as educational and historical presentations and displays with a focus on the river and the environment.

The art show and sale will be from noon to 7 p.m.
