Staff report

Youngstown native Ed O’Neill is once again up for an Emmy Award.

O’Neill was nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category for his work on ABC sitcom “Modern Family.”

He was nominated in the same category last year as well, but didn’t win.

The Emmy Awards will be broadcast live tonight on ABC, beginning at 7 p.m. Jimmy Kimmel will be the host.

Each of the six adult stars of the ensemble comedy has been nominated in the Supporting Actor or Actress categories. Along with O’Neill, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Ty Burrell, who won the award last year, each got a Supporting Actor nod. They are vying against Bill Hader of “Saturday Night Live” and Max Greenfield of “New Girl.”

The nominated women of “Modern Family” are Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara.

The fourth season of “Modern Family” premieres Wednesday at 9 p.m., with the wife of O’Neill’s character pregnant.
