Man hit by train

YOUNGSTOWN

Firefighters lowered a man from a CSX railroad overpass for continued medical treatment after he reportedly was hit by a train at Oak Hill Avenue and Marshall Street at 2:34 p.m. Thursday.

A Rural Metro ambulance crew was treating the victim on the trestle, when firefighters rigged a stokes basket and rigid stretcher via a rope and pulley system to lower the victim from the trestle and return him to the care of the ambulance crew and rescue squad. The victim, who wasn’t seriously hurt, was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, said Fire Capt. Alvin Ware. The fire department report did not identify the victim or elaborate on the circumstances.
