1943 East High graduates mark 69th reunion

The group gathered at Johnny’s restaurant on Market Street laughed and joked as only old friends can.

And this group goes way back – they graduated from Youngstown’s East High School 69 years ago.

Their first class reunions were at the 25-year mark, and they held others at roughly 25-year intervals. But about 10 years ago, they decided to meet annually, said Bette

Fajack, coordinator of Saturday’s event. The two classes also began combining their reunions.

“We like being together and we like seeing each other,” said Fajack, who now lives in Poland. “Every year I say, ‘Now, shall this be the last one?’ and they say,

‘Oh, no, no, no, we want another one.’ ”
