Poland youth soccer Week 3 action

Katie Jacobson scored two goals to earn team MVP honors and lead the Shooting Stars last week.

The Silver Bullets were led by team MVP Giam Almasy, who scored a goal. The Blue Thundercatz were paced by a goal from Addie Quattro and team MVP Rachel Mowad. Brooke Stanley scored a goal for the Lady Gray Hounds and was named Most Valuable Player of the week. The Thunder Ducks were led by Chelsea Romack, who was voted Most Valuable Player of the week.

Kevin Kushner scored two goals to pace the White Phantoms. Andrew Armile and Ben Dearing both added goals and Joseph Sahrid was the MVP. The Yellow Jackets’ MVPs were Ethan Ball and Brandon Ojeda and Noah Lee scored the team’s goal. The Tigers got goals from Page Kellgren and Rachel Stahl, who was the Most Valuable Player.

Team Lightning scored four goals, including two from Nate Hayes. Ethan Blake and Mike Carney each had one goal. Great defense earned Nick Delullo Most Valuable Player of the week. The Pink Panthers saw three players each bring in a goal, including Preslie Bodine, Sophia D’Angelo and Madelynn Trimble.

The Blue Rocks were led by goals from Rachel Wolfe and Jay Jay Capan. Taylor Schmid and Molly Malmer played excellent offense and Nola Arrgiro was the midfield MVP, while Corinne Deem was the goalie MVP.

Girls golf loses to Canfield

The Poland girls golf team was defeated by Canfield 175-194 on Sept. 12 at the Diamond Back golf course. Top players for Poland were Rachel Sines (41), Melinda Hannon (43), Rachel Jeswald (52), and Cassandra Herdman (58).

Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates’ Saturday sports clinics, geared specifically to fall sports student-athletes in need of immediate attention to sports injuries, has started. The clinics run from 9-11 a.m. every Saturday throughout the high school sports season. These clinics are open to players involved in football, volleyball, soccer, golf and other high school and college sports. They are held at the practice’s Building A at the northwest corner of Tippecanoe Road and Boardman-Canfield Road in Canfield. More information is available at www.youngstownortho.com.
