Pa. principal resigns over texts, emails

OXFORD, Pa. (AP) — A high school principal has resigned amid criticism he mocked and insulted students in emails and text messages.

The Oxford Area School District board accepted the resignation of principal David Madden on Thursday.

Madden was suspended earlier this year after emails surfaced in which a student was called a “psychopath” and a Latino teen mocked as destined to be a gardener.

The criticism started after a parent of a bipolar student said Madden sent a text message during a meeting that referred to the teen as a “manipulator.”

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that prompted Arc of Chester County to request more of the student’s records and uncover emails and notes containing derogatory language.
