Parker-Alaspa nuptials set for November 10

Michael and Mary Hissam of El Paso are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Melanie Marie Parker of Naperville, Ill., formerly of Girard and Youngstown, and Bryan W. Alaspa of Chicago.

The future groom is the son of Wayne and Adele Alaspa of Chicago.

The bride-elect’s father, Thomas W. Parker, is deceased.

The wedding ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Chapel in the Pines, Sycamore, Ill., and a reception will follow at Amber Pines with a champagne brunch. Invitations will be issued for both.

The bride-to-be received a bachelor’s degree in professional writing and editing from Youngstown State University. She is a principal content developer and resource manager for Motorola Solutions in Schaumburg, Ill.

Mr. Alaspa received a degree in media communications from Webster University and is an account manager for K-Squared Communications in Chicago. He also is a published author, whose latest novel, “Deklan Falls: One Against Many,” is set in a fictionalized version of Youngstown.
