Man arrested at Miley Cyrus’ house
LOS ANGELES
A man reportedly clutching a pair of scissors was arrested after police say he tried to force himself inside the Los Angeles home of Miley Cyrus.
Los Angeles police Lt. Brian Wendling said that employees inside the house in the Studio City area called police around 4 a.m. Saturday after the man came to the door and claimed to be a friend of the 19-year-old singer-actress.
Wendling said the suspect then repeatedly threw himself against an outside wall as if he was trying to break into the house. Cyrus was not home at the time.
The man, who was not identified, was arrested after officers saw him jump behind some bushes. Ripcki Lake returns with updated talk show
LOS ANGELES
Ricki Lake was a babe in the talk-show woods when her syndicated program launched nearly two decades ago.
Looking back at the 24-year-old actress she was then, Lake pronounces the 1993 career move “a little bit presumptous,” although “Ricki Lake” quickly won over a young-adult audience that wanted a peppy take on life and love from someone like them.
“I didn’t know what I was signing up for. I didn’t know how to host a show. I didn’t know who I was or have a point of view. I basically was grateful to have the job,” recalls Lake. “I thought, ‘Great, I can pay my rent for six months.’”
Lake, who turns 44 this month, has been changed by marriage, children, divorce and remarriage. So have her ambitions for her return to the daytime arena with “The Ricki Lake Show,” debuting Monday.
Artists pay tribute to Mariah Carey
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.
Mariah Carey was late to the BMI Urban Music Awards, where she was the guest of honor, but that didn’t stop other artists from literally singing her praises.
Fantasia Barrino and Eric Benet were among those who serenaded the star with her own hits. Benet performed “One Sweet Day,” and the former “American Idol” sang “Hero” during the private ceremony at the Saban Theatre, where writers, producers and publishers of the year’s top urban hits were recognized Friday.
